In which I ramble about clutter and money...

I'm tired of clutter (what's new?)...and I'm longing for the simple life.  We really have too much stuff.  So I've been doing a lot of sorting...and organizing.  I seriously have some mental connections with the clutter in my house.  The clutter's not that terrible really, but maybe it's that I have an obsession with organization and perfection.  So I can be in bed trying to go to sleep and can't because I'm thinking of all the things I want to organize, and paint, and decorate, and sell.  See, I told you I have problems.  The biggest of which is that my brain is WAY faster than my abilities to do all this stuff.  Not to mention a serious money shortage.

Tomorrow I'm selling some of my clothes at a consignment store that pays cash on the spot.  Soon I plan to have a yard sale too.  And I'm already planning for the bi-annual consignment sales this Fall.  We don't need this clutter...but we do need the money, so I figure it's good all around.  :-)

What do you do to get rid of clutter?  Do you turn it into cash?

Good job, sis! I too have sleepless nights thinking wondering how to do it all. I often have to pray and ask God for peace and realize everything has a time!

Glad I'm not the only one with this problem! I agree with your sister, I pray for God to help me slow down and evaluate my "issues" in this area. It can be hard to sleep or even concentrate some days, but I have to remind myself that FAMILY and GOD are what matter.

Good job turning it into money! I have never done that (or really thought of it for that matter). I am really into donating our clutter. I just feel like maybe it is helping someone else. Although I would love to know where you sell your clothes at that pays cash on the spot! WOW!

Oh, one thing that really helps me is making a "project list" When I think of something I want to go through, organize, re-arrange, decorate or whatever I write it on my list. Then I prioritize. I love to check things off as I go so I can look back when I get stressed and say "but look at everything I have gotten done". it helps me to realize everything can't be done in one day! Take your time and enjoy your little ones! Everything will get done!

I'm on my way to the consignment shop tomorrow! I'm an anti-pack rat..always looking around for something to get rid of...I still feel like we're cluttered though...and we want to stay in our small house and have more kids...I've got to get better at organizing and cleaning out!
