Passionate Housewives: Desperate for God - A Review

In a society where feminism is the norm (even in many Christian circles), and a society in which we are bombarded with predetermined formulas of what womanhood should be, authors Jennie Chancey and Stacy McDonald stand up to fight for the Biblical values that we are losing as we give in to this “norm.”

Passionate Housewives: Desperate for God is a breath of fresh air and is encouraging as well as convicting as the authors lead us to look to God as our standard. This book reveals many of the feminist mindsets that have subtly crept into our homes and families over time. Jennie and Stacy encourage us to purge our homes and our minds of this very secular behavior, and to return to the Biblical model of femininity.

I love that Passionate Housewives is firm, honest, and to the point. The authors do not beat around the bush or try to make the truth more palatable, but they address this serious issue with love, exhorting us to obey God, and giving us practical advice as we strive to become more godly women, wives, mothers, and homemakers.

I would by no means call myself a feminist, yet I find that feminist tendencies can creep in unnoticed so easily and I have been greatly encouraged and convicted while reading this book. I have also been inspired to encourage others in the pursuit of godly womanhood and to strive to be more and more set apart for God's glory. I would highly recommend Passionate Housewives: Desperate for God.
