Thankful Tree

I've been wanting to make a Thankful Tree ever since I first saw one last year.  The girls had lots of fun thinking of things they are thankful for and we wrote them all down on the little "leaf" tags, then they helped to hang them on the tree.

To make this, I traced circles onto scrapbook paper and then cut them out and used a hole punch to make a hole for hanging them.

I cut a branch off a tree in our yard, filled a vase with acorns {also from our yard}, and stuck the tree in the vase.

After we wrote what we are thankful for, we hung all our "leaves" on the tree.

We are so thankful for so many things and I love getting the little ones involved thinking of things!

This makes a great Fall or Thanksgiving decoration or can be used as centerpiece for the table.  :-)

I've seen several different versions of the thankful tree, but ours was mostly inspired by Simply Vintage Girl.

So beautiful! I head a quote the other day that goes with this.

¨what if we woke up with only the things we thanked God for the day before¨.

I am impressed to read such a powerful story about Blogger: Clay In His Hands - Post a Comment. I will post a link on my coupon site to this blog post. I will be back to read more.

What a neat idea! And I bet it helps the kids understand what you mean when you ask what they are thankful for. (Edda doesn't seem to get it yet, though she did tell me she was thankful for the sun yesterday, haha.)
