Need a little extra cash? Look around your home with an eye to see beyond the obvious. I've found that every little bit of stuff adds up and although we try to live simply, we always have things around that we don't really need. And therein lies the cash!
One of the things we almost always have too much of (or could downsize) is clothing. I know that doesn't sound amazing, but guess what? Someone wants that clothing. So pick out clothing that is in good condition that your children have outgrown, or don't need, and the stuff that you never wear that just sits in your closet. Then get ready to sell!
I've had the best success with consignment shops and sales. Yard sales are good also, and although I haven't tried yet, I hear Ebay and Craigslist are good places to sell too. I live in a fairly small town but every Spring and Winter there are several Consignment sales around here. I just finished selling a bunch of stuff last month by consigning to three local consignment sales. Mostly it was children's clothing, but the sales also took juniors and maternity, plus I took some toys and books. (Usually these types of sales also accept things like cribs, decor items for children, strollers, changing tables, etc.) Whatever didn't sell last month I will either save for the Spring consignment sales or take to a local consignment shop. All it takes is a little getting your items ready and dropping them off.
I've been doing this for years, and it is really worth the extra cash!
Remember, it all ADDS UP!!

What a good idea... I never think about consignment sales. I rarely have extra clothing that I can sell because I'm a little obsessive about getting rid of anything I don't need as soon as I'm done with it. I do have lot of toys I could pass along...
